Last Will and Testament of John Robins

In the name of God Amen, I John Robins of Northampton County in the State of Virginia Mariner, being in a low State of health, tho' of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, which is in manner and form following.

Imprimis : I lend to Zella Robins fifty pounds cash during her life paying no interest, provided she give security for the same to be paid out of her Estate at her death to John Robins Son of Thomas Robins.

Item. I give unto Peggy Christian Daughter of Joshua Turner the sum of fifty pounds cash and my Small trunk & whip.

Item. I give unto Levin Ames fifty pounds cash

Item. I give unto Carvey Dunton fifty pounds cash.

Item. I give unto Thomas Robins fifty pounds cash

Item. I give unto James Bonavill fifty pounds cash.

Item. I give unto Levin Ames my Mare, bridle and saddle and all the money remaining | which is not before given | after my Debts and other Just charges be paid.

Item. I give unto Nathaniel Turner a White Measil Westcoat, also a changeable coloured Silk Westcoat a pair of white Silk Stockings and a pistol.

Item. I give unto Bridgat Ames my largest Trunk.

Item. I give unto Zilla Robins my Bed and furniture, together with curtains.

Item. I leave my Negro Woman Rachel and Child | called Adah | free at my Death.

Item. I give unto Arthur Robins my newest Suit of Cloathes and to Thomas Robins his next choice of suits of Cloathes, my Great Coat; and all the rest of my Cloathes that will fit Levin Ames I give to him, and all those that will not, I give to Thomas Robins, except it be coarse shirts and Trouses. the Trouses I leave to Zilla Robins servant Abel together with a P. Jacket. the shirts to my Negro Woman Rachel.

I do Constitute and appoint Levin Ames my Executor to this my last will and Testament. As Witness my hand and Seal this thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred.

At a Court held for Northampton County the 14th April 1800.

This will was proved by the Oaths of James Sanford and Kendall Addison witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded : and on the motion of Levin Ames the Executor therein appointed and he having taken the Oath, and entered into bond with Security according to Law. Certificate is granted him to obtain a probat therof in due form.
